In attempt to increase their market share in the lucrative high-end cellphone market, Microsoft has released their first smartphone running on the new Windows 8.1 operating system for cellphone. With an improved user interface and top-end features, this may be the best Windows Phone to date.
The Nokia Lumia 930 has a 5 inch ClearBlack OLED display which delivers true to life color and deep blacks. The phone has a simple but robust and pleasing design like many of the other top-end products in the Lumia range.
In addition to simple black and white, the Nokia Lumia 930 is available in a vivid green and a bright orange shade for those who want a more vibrant handset. All styles of the phone feature a black front panel and an aluminum band which goes around the edge of the handset.
Beneath the surface, the latest offering from Windows phone is powered by a hardy 2.2Ghz quad-core processor which is complemented by a generous 2GB RAM. In addition, the Nokia Lumia 930 boasts 32GB of internal storage making it perfect for storing plenty of media on it. The cellphone features a powerful 2,420mAh battery which can deliver up to 15 hours of talk time and more than 430 hours of standby time.
In recent years, the cameras in Nokia phones have been head and shoulders above their competition. The camera in the Nokia Lumia 930 is no different. Equipped with Zeiss optics and a powerful 20MP sensor, the Nokia Lumia 930 is a great device for taking photos with, even in poorly lit or difficult conditions! On the front of the phone there is a respectable 1.2MP camera which is great for taking front-facing images or making video calls.
As opposed to previous Nokia Lumia models where a wireless charging back panel was an optional extra in the form of a snap on case, the Nokia Lumia 930 comes with wireless charging capabilities straight out the box and what’s more Microsoft have teamed up the phone with a wireless charging plate and a wireless speaker. This generous package certainly distinguishes it from its Android and iOS competition.
Like other cellphones in the successful Lumia series, the Nokia Lumia 930 features Live Tiles. These are customizable tiles that you can link to favorite apps, contacts and files. In addition, Live Tiles can be attached to feeds and social media applications which display updates on your home screen. Microsoft has also improved their Live Tile technology by introducing smaller size tiles and a third column, allowing you to customize your home screen even more.
